Katie and Steven are back in Berlin, back in TIK Nord to make some sounds on a Thursday!
STEVEN SHARPE is undoubtedly one of Ireland's best-kept secrets but has made a name for himself in the Galway’s thriving music scene, performing his own brand of out'n'proud music with a live show that must be seen to be believed. His veracious, witty, and soulful musical presence blends music, humour and storytelling and draws influences from Prince to Kate Bush to Nina Simone. In 2015 he started performing with ‘The Broke Straight Boys’ a backing band made up of Galway’s most competent and versatile musicians and since has played sold-out shows and festivals all over Ireland.
‘Sound it Out’ was recently released on the 27th of April, is the latest hook-filled, lyrically explicit single from Galway-based male- diva sensation Steven Sharpe and his unwitting backing band ‘The Broke Straight Boys’.

KATIE O'CONNOR has shared her music on stages and streets throughout Europe, since her beginning in Galway 2011. In the midst of attaining a midwifery degree, Katie found herself being drawn to creating and sharing music on the street. After qualifying as a midwife, she took early retirement, shaved her head and started afresh in Berlin with just her guitar, her voice and a desire to be true to herself. Although based mainly in Ireland for the time being, Katie spends many weeks of the year on the road bringing her music and message to those who wish to listen. Songs and stories entwined, she delivers a gripping performance each and every time backed up by powerful lyrics and an unrivalled raspy voice. Recently releasing her fourth album, Fuel For Dreaming in May, has been met with a very positive response from her listeners.

TO GAZE UPON US is the love child of Steven and Katie because that's as physical as it's getting. They made their debut in April of 2015 in the Róisín Dubh in the run up to the Marriage Equality vote, and now they are back! Sharpe takes O’Connor to more upbeat areas, as she leads him to more sentimental and heartfelt places. Blending their individual styles, Katie’s melodic vocals beautifully complement Steven’s flamboyant sass to create a lush sound. The realiness is right here.

Jeden Donnerstag ein Konzert mit einem Singer/Songwriter oder einer kleinen Band.
Wer aufmerksam durch Berlin stolpert hat es mitbekommen, die Stadt ist ein Magnet für junge, verrückte, talentierte und interessante Musiker. Mit etwas Glück sieht man auf der Warschauer Brücke oder in einem Kneipenhinterzimmer an einem Abend mehr Talent als das ganze Jahr im Fernsehen.
Wir wollen diesen Musikern eine Bühne geben.
