Brazilian Romance ist ein 1987 Studioalbum von Sarah Vaughan. Dies war Vaughans letztes Album, obwohl sie später zu Quincy Jones '1989 Back on the Block beitrug. Brazilian Romance war Vaughans drittes Album mit brasilianischer Musik, gefolgt von Copacabana und I Love Brazil! "The 10 songs are beautifully arranged and sung, but one song in particular, for me, shines above the rest. Nothing Will Be As It Was has been covered by several vocalists and arranged in various styles, but nowhere have I heard such an electrifying arrangement and performance as the one found on this album. From the outset the intricate rhythm of the acoustic guitar and congas serve to introduce a track full of energy, with Ernie Watts’ alto sax playing ensuring the energy level remains high to the very end. Sarah Lois Vaughan (1924-1990) war eine US-amerikanische Jazz-Sängerin und Pianistin. Sie gilt neben Billie Holiday und Ella Fitzgerald als eine der bedeutendsten Vokalistinnen des Jazz. Als eines ihrer Kennzeichen galt das „swooping“ Glissando, ein Hinabgleiten in ihre tiefsten Stimmlagen. Vaughan betrachtete ihre Stimme immer mehr als ein Melodieinstrument denn als Vehikel zur dramatischen Interpretation von Songtexten.
