DARK SATELLITES with Clemens Meyer

Berlin premiere! Leipzig writer Clemens Meyer in conversation with Kaye Mitchell and his translator Katy Derbyshire. His short story collection, published in English in January, takes us to dark and bright moments in the lives of ordinary East Germans. Train drivers, security guards, hairdressers, amateur astronomers, people coping or not coping with everyday life. Meyer captures the instants in which their worlds change, be it through love, unexpected friendships or catastrophe.

Nominated for the MAN Booker International Prize in 2017, the writer and his translator Katy Derbyshire talk about their work and what makes great writing. Chaired by literary critic and scholar Kaye Mitchell, an expert on the politics and poetics of shame in contemporary writing. Come along to give DARK SATELLITES its Berlin launch.
