Nichts für Kuscheltypen ist Sophie Iremongers Malerei. Der 1983 in Dublin geborenen und
ausgebildeten Künstlerin geht es in ihrer Ausstellung -zErotische Landschaften- um den puren
Ausdruck von Macht, Sex, Tod, Liebe und Schmerz in der postapokalyptischen Landschaft. Dort,
wo der Mensch lange nicht mehr existiert. Der Künstlerin fallt es leicht, sich die Welt ohne die
Spezies Homo Sapiens vorzustellen, da sie den Menschen in die lange Liste der anderen
Saugetiere einreiht und ihn auch als nichts Weiteres sieht. In ihren Werken beleben und verwildern
die wiederauferstandenen Tiere aus Hohlenmalereien die Natur. In leuchtend poppigen Farben
erstrahlt die sinnliche Zukunft und entführt den Zuschauer in eine Art Pleistozan der Highfashion.

Sophie Iremonger's large and small scale acrylic on canvas paintings fusing high-fashion magazine imagery with animistic idolatry, a primitive folk-art pop-ism that reflects NOW succinctly but rejects the hightech in favour of a hands-on approach using print/paint/collage techniques. A glossy ultra modern cave painting, this work perverts core Pop art techniques (repeated imagery, but by hand) whilst retaining the Pop art mass production aesthetic and the movements desire for a fresh new art of now. A eulogy to luscious trash values combined with an energetic processed neon vision; seriously primordial yet frothed with the artificial flavour of mass media ephemera, these mismatching parts create an erotic art Frankenstein.
