Wäsche en plein air – ein ärmelloses Hemd in zarten Pastelltönen, eine mit Lebenserfahrungen stone-washed Jeans und ockergelbe Socken mit Fersenloch wehen sanft im Wind. Die Textilien Neuköllns leuchten an 48 Wäscheständern im Grünen wie die Farben auf der Staffelei einer Freilichtmaler:in.
„Durch die Straßen der Stadt auf Weg zum eigen Stil“ – Während 48 Stunden laden wir Bewohner:innen und Besucher:*innen an unseren fahrbaren Wäscheständern zum STREET-SHOPPPING ein: Während wir um die Häuser rollen, genießen wir den Flow zirkulärer Lebensweise und philosophieren über die Auswirkungen der Mode und der globalen Bekleidungsindustrie auf das Leben der Einzelnen und die Umwelt: Wie hängt Fast Fashion mit Air Pollution zusammen? Welchen Odem verströmt die pre-loved Jogginghose, die wir in den Händen halten? Die abgestreiften Kleiderhüllen stellen die europäische und weiß geprägte Sichtweise auf Mode in Frage. Werden wir ihre Geschichte los, wenn wir sie waschen?
Die 60-minütigen Stadtführungen beginnen und enden im Körnerpark, auf der Terrasse der Orangerie, Ort unserer skulpturale Intervention.
Unsere Guides sind Profis im STREET shopping – Jan, Eileen, Alice, KDindie & Stella setzen dabei eigene Tourenschwerpunkte: Jan rollt entlang eines Lebens auf der Straße, Alice manöveriert den Wäscheständer an der Schnittstellen von Konsum und Nachhaltigkeit auf der Suche nach green fashion, Eileen fragt nach den Menschen, deren Hüllen auf dem Boden liegen und KDindie folgen den Spuren von [Geschlechter]Itdentität im Urbanen während Stella sich für Objekte, die sie findet ohne sie gesucht zu haben, interessiert.
Die geretteten Kleidungsstücke- saved items – werden auf 48 Wäscheständern zur Schau gestellt – des Publikums Blicke hauchen ihnen neues Leben ein: Vom Fundstück zur begehrten Ware... die Stoffe blähen sich im Wind wie die Segel an den „Schiffen am Ufer“ von Van Gogh.
Jede:r ist eingeladen, eine dieser Farben Neuköllns als Souvenir und Urban Outfit nach Hause zu
nehmen, eigene Textilien an der Wäscheleine zu befestigen oder Kleidungsstücke auszutauschen (jeweils maximal 5 Teile, gewaschen und in gutem Zustand, bitte keine Schuhe und Unterwäsche).
Die Stücke, die du mitnehmen möchtest, werden mit unserem revolutionären Brand STREETWARE saved item gelabelt.

Laundry en plein air – a sleeveless shirt in subtle pastel shades, a pair of jeans stone-washed with life lessons and ochre-yellow socks with holes in their heels are blowing gently in the breeze. On about 50 laundry stands, the fabrics of Neukölln shine bright against the surrounding greenery, mimicking the colours of an open-air painter’s easel.
‘Cruise through the city and find your unique style’ – Over the course of 48 hours, we invite local residents and visitors to join us for some STREET-SHOPPING with our mobile clothes racks: As we cruise around the block, we'll embrace the flow of the circular way of life and reflect on the impact of fashion and the global textile industry on individual lives and the environment: What is the link between fast fashion and air pollution? And what’s that sticky odour of the pre-loved sweatpants we’re holding in our hands?The cast-off garments challenge the Eurocentric and White understanding of fashion. Could we, by washing them, free them from their history?
The 60-minute city tours begin and end in Körnerpark, on the terrace of the Orangerie, the location we chose for our sculptural intervention.
Our guides are professionals in STREET SHOPPING - Jan, Eileen, Alice, KDindie and Stella set their own tour priorities. Jan rolls along a life on the street, Alice manoeuvres the clothes horse at the criss-cross of abundance and sustainability, Eileen asks about the human whose shells lie on the ground, KDindie investigates the traces of (gender) identity in the urban. Stella is interested in objects that she finds without having looked for them.
We will display the clothes we rescued – the ‘saved items’ – on 48 clothing racks. Transformed from found objects into highly sought-after commodities – the public's gaze breathes new life into our garments. Fabrics blow in the wind, resembling the sails of Van Gogh's ‘Fishing Boats on the Beach’.
We invite all participants to take the colours of Neukölln home
with them and indulge in their new souvenir and urban outfits (max 5 pieces). Everyone is welcome to hang their own textiles up on the clothesline or to exchange their clothes for others (max 5 pieces, washed and in good condition, please no shoes and underwear).
The pieces you choose to take with you will be labeled with our revolutionary brand STREETWARE saved item.
