Every societal change is proceeded by a cognitive process of the individual person. „ONE“ transforms the garden of „Das Dritte Land“, creating a space of cognition in which separation is overcome by the individual. In 1989, a church in Berlin became the center of resistance and of peaceful revolution. „ONE“ draws on this experience and applies it to a Korean Utopia. The music of Italian composer Adriano Fontana is based on the Buddhist mantra „Nam Myoho Renge Kyo“. In the performance, it will be directly followed by Christian bell-ringing (Buddhism and Christianity are the two largest religious movements in Korea). Religion/spirituality becomes a possible ground for personal cognition and therefore societal change, creating a collective movement and unity.
