im Filmrauschpalast, Lehrter Straße 35, 10557 Berlin Moabit Wie KINDER Krieg und Flucht erleben, ist Thema unseres kommenden Film- und Diskussionsabends. Der unter anderem mit der Goldenen Muschel (San Sebastian Film Festival 2004) und dem Friedensfilmpreis (Berlinale 2005) prämierten Film „Schildkröten können fliegen" erzählt die Geschichte des 13-jährigen Satellit, der als Anführer einer Kindergruppe im nordirakischen Grenzland Minen sucht, um sie auf dem Schwarzmarkt zu verkaufen, und der vom Krieg traumatisierten Agrin. Kurz vor dem Einmarsch der US-amerikanischen Armee in den Irak begegnen sich die beiden in einem Flüchtlingslager. In dem anschließenden PUBLIKUMSGESPRÄCH mit geladenen Gästen soll das Gefühlschaos von Kindern während Krieg und Flucht sowie die aktuelle Lage im Nordirak diskutiert werden. Discussing the consequences of war and flight for CHILDREN is the issue of our next film screening. "Turtles Can Fly" (inter alia The Golden Shell at 52nd San Sebastian Film Festival 2004 and the Peace Film Award at Berlinale 2005) tells the story of thirteen-year-old Satellite, who is the leader of a children's gang that collects mines in the borderland of Northern Iraq to sell them at the local black market, and the war-traumatized Agrin. Shortly before the 2003 American invasion of Iraq both meet in a refugee camp.
The following OPEN CONVERSATION AND AUDIENCE DISCUSSION with invited experts will scrutinize the effects of war and escape on children as well as the actual situation in Northern Iraq.
The discussion will be held in German.
