We live our lives\, together and apart. We constantly criticise ourselves and try working towards what we deem ‘perfect’. But what we tend to forget is that we’re just humans. Nature has made us fallible\, eager to learn - all different but still the same.This is what Lisa Akuah has realised herself when writing this song. Her first creative outpour after the post-release-blues experienced after the release of ‘Outgrowing Nymph’ to critical acclaim\, this\, for her\, deeply therapeutic tune paved the way for the new things to come. And it serves as a reminder to maybe take it easier on oneself. We are\, after all\, simply human.With 'Simply Human' Lisa Akuah has taken on a slightly different sound that still clearly identifies her style - unusual and intricate guitars paired with her unique voice. This time however\, she introduces drums into her music for the very first time and the result is certainly goosebumps inducing\, when her voice rises into the end-of-chorus crescendo\, carried by psychedelic and ambient sounding guitar and bass as well as a soft cushion of percussions.Seeing as she has decided to use a different instrumentation\, her choice of cooperating artists has changed accordingly. While the song was\, once again\, recorded and produced by Cameron Laing (aided by Robert Spencer) of The Famous Gold Watch Studios in Berlin - Lisa’s 2nd home by now - she has teamed up with prolific drummer and musician Gidon Carmel and the outstanding bassist Georg Kostron. Each musician brought a little bit of their own soul into the song when interpreting Lisa’s vocals\, lyrics and ideas for the respective instruments. This takes ‘Simply Human’ to the next level of Lisa’s career\, which can only be up.‘Simply Human’ will be available on all platforms with its accompanying lyric video on November 4th.
