DESCRIPTION:23.11.-3.12.2021Under the Polaris - Maritta Meckelborg"I was born in the middle of forests. My playgrounds in my childhood were riverbanks\, edges of forests\,and cozy hiding places under large spruce trees. You can see my emotional bond to wildlife and nature inall my work. My artworks are personal ponderings and recollections of things I have encountered andexperienced in nature mixed in with stories and myths I have heard of Finnish nature and wildlife. Ratherthan observations\, the starting point to my art is usually things in time\, the passing of time\, life in general.Those animal pictures of mine are like looking into the mirror. Even though they usually picture animals you canalso see in them pictures of humans and pictures of life and death. I see nature as a place for spiritualexperiences. Through forests\, I can experience the flow of eternity and be part of it just for a nanosecond.Animals are usually in the center of my works. Our oldest human-made art pieces are rock paintings of elk.Were the pictures of elk anything else than means of surviving to the people that made them or did theymean something more?I enjoy my time painting pictures of these forests\, riverbanks\, hiding places\,and the animals and life I picture living there."***Unter dem Polarstern - Maritta Meckelborg​“Ich wurde im Wald geboren. Der Spielplatz meiner Kindheit war das Flussufer\, der Waldrand undgemütliche Verstecke unter großen Fichten. Meine emotionale Bindung zu der Wildnis und der Naturist in all meinen Werken sichtbar. Meine Kunstwerke sind persönliche Überlegungen und Erinnerungenan die Dinge\, denen ich in der Natur begegnet bin und die ich erlebt habe\, zusammen mit Geschichtenund Mythen\, die ich über die finnische Natur und Wildnis gehört habe. Die Anhaltspunkte für meine​Kunst sind meist nicht Beobachtungen\, sondern die Zeit\, das Vergehen der Zeit\, das Leben im Allgemeinen.Meine Tierbilder sind wie ein Blick in den Spiegel. Obwohl sie meist Tiere darstellen\, kann man in ihnen auchBilder von Menschen\, sowie Leben und Tod erkennen. Ich sehe die Natur als einen Ort für spirituelleErfahrungen. Durch Wälder kann ich den Fluss der Ewigkeit erfahren und für eine Nanosekunde Teil von ihm sein.​Tiere stehen meist im Mittelpunkt meiner Werke. Die älteste\, von Menschen gefertigte Kunst sind Felsmalereienvon Elchen. Dienten diese Elchbilder den Menschen\, die sie schufen\, mehr als nur Überleben oderhatten sie eine größere Bedeutung?Ich genieße die Zeit\, die ich mit dem Malen von Wäldern\, Flussufern\, Verstecken und den​Tieren und Lebewesen\, die ich mir dort vorstelle\, verbringe."***
