SUMMARY:"Citizen of Moria" - Film and discussion
DESCRIPTION:What is it like to live in a Greek ‘Hotspot-camp’ for several years? In the documentary "Citizen of Moria"\, film producer Ahmad Ebrahimi describes everyday life in the camp and shows how the residents deal with the prevailing inhumane conditions. After fleeing from Afghanistan\, Ahmad Ebrahimi ends up in Moria on the island of Lesvos. There\, he finds himself confronted with the failure of European migration policy. Background information on the political emergence and function of hotspot camps is provided by the exhibition "Why #LeaveNoOneBehind?"\, which is accessible before and after the event. In four thematic blocks\, the exhibition deals with the situation in the camps on the Greek islands using the example of Moria. It describes the history of the camp\, sheds light on the catastrophic living conditions and points at alternatives to the European policy of isolation. After the film screening\, we will talk to both producers of the film: Jawad Mir and Ahmad Ebrahimi. The open-air event will take place at Haus der Statistik (Karl-Marx-Allee 1\, 10178 Berlin). In case of bad weather conditions\, we will move to the Musterhaus (Autoscooter) (car park Berolinastraße 22\, 10178 Berlin).
