Every woven\, embroidered or dyed piece explores through its symbolic and aesthetic values\, the life of a craftsperson and an entire community. This presentation addresses Syrian traditional textile heritage\, focusing on its history\, production techniques and material resources\, to demonstrate and appreciate their close relationship to social and cultural customs.Estibaliz Sienra (Mexico) is a cultural promoter and expert in traditional textiles. She is currently a Doctorate candidate in World Heritage Studies\, from the Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg. She holds a Master’s degree in World Heritage Studies from the same institution. She previously worked in the Folk-Art Research Centre of the Franz Mayer Museum. She was also a teacher at the Textile Restoration Workshop of the National School of Conservation\, Restoration and Museography of the National Institute of Anthropology and History of Mexico.Date: 9.
