DESCRIPTION:Wir laden herzlich ein zur Vernissage der Ausstellung “Iran/Dialogues“!Die Fotografien bieten einen kleinen Einblick in das alltägliche Leben\, die Landschaften und die Gesellschaft Irans. Die Fotos wurden zwischen dem 4. Und 25. Mai 2017 aufgenommen."Außerhalb der Grenzen Irans ist wenig über Land und Leute bekannt. Westliche Medien berichten meist im Zusammenhang mit Nuklearpakt\, politischen Spannungen und islamischen Regime über das Land. Die einseitige Berichterstattung erklärt\, warum meine Familie und einige meiner Freunde skeptisch reagierten\, als ich erzählte\, allein durch den Iran reisen zu wollen.Ich habe mich so gut auf die Reise vorbereitet\, wie ich konnte – den Kontakt zu Reisenden gesucht\, viel gelesen – aber nichts konnte mich auf das tiefe Eintauchen in die iranische Kultur vorbereiten\, voller Kontraste\, die ich lieber Dialoge nennen möchte: konservativ &amp\; liberal\, öffentliches &amp\; privates Leben\, Neugier &amp\; Ignoranz\, Reichtum &amp\; Armut\, etc. In meinen Augen ist in der iranischen Gesellschaft nichts offensichtlicher als das Konzept des Dialogs an sich – sei es dafür oder dagegen\; aber immer in Auseinandersetzung zu sein."Joanna Scheffel lebt und arbeitet in Berlin und reist so oft es geht. Photos were taken between May 4 – 25\, 2017."Outside Iran\, little is known of the country and its people. Western media refer to the country mostly in context of nuclear deals\, political tensions and Islamic regime. This one- sided portrayal explains my family’s and friends’ sceptical reactions when I told them of my plan to travel solo through Iran.I prepared as well as I could\, connecting to people\, reading – but nothing could prepare me for the deep plunge I took into Iranian culture\; full of contrasts I prefer to call dialogues:Conservative &amp\; liberal\, public life &amp\; private life\, curiosity &amp\; ignorance\, wealth &amp\; poverty\, etc. In my eyes\, nothing is more prevalent than the concept of dialogue within the Iranian society – whether in disagreement or agreement."Joanna Scheffel lives and works in Berlin and travels frequently.
