DESCRIPTION:IMAGINARY AFRICA TRIOMauro Basilio : electric cello\, electronics\, loopsJean-François Petitjean : saxophonesGuillaume Arbonville : percussionsan eclectic/electric trio exploring imaginary paths through AfricaA mixture of jazz\, afrobeat\, arab and minimal music that calls back to an imaginary Africa\, where rhythm and improvisations are always important elements.Born in 2011 in Berlin as a solo project for cello\, electronics\, loops\, Imaginary Africa developed itself through Mauro Basilio’s movings\, first in Italy then in France\, involving many different artists.In 2015\, in Paris\, it becomes a stable trio composed of cello (+ electronics and loops)\, saxophone and percussions.Imaginary Africa's music wants to be a representation of Africa\, as an european eye and instrument would see it: curios about traditional rhythms\, modes and melodies but with a mythical and enchanted vision\, and an iconoclastic and modernist freedom at the same time.
