Der Wissensraum\, der in der Ausstellung „Common Ground #3 – Where the Circles Intersect“ entsteht\, führt die beiden universitätseigenen Institute der Asien- und Afrikawissenschaften und der Kunst- und Bildgeschichte zusammen und sucht nach möglichen Überschneidungspunkten. Im Rahmen der Podiumsdiskussion wird gemeinsam mit M.A. Jamila Adeli\, Prof. Eva Ehninger und Prof. Monica Juneja nach den Möglichkeiten gefragt\, die Kunstgeschichte in translokalen Räumen zu denken: Wie kann eine transkulturelle Sichtweise den Kanon hinterfragen und die Kunstgeschichte dynamisieren? Kann Kunst global in den Blick genommen werden\, ohne Grenzen zu markieren? Was passiert\, wenn Kunst um die Welt reist und in neuen Lokalitäten präsentiert wird? The knowledge space that comes into being inside the exhibition “Common Ground #3 – Where the Circles Intersect” aims at bringing together Humboldt University’s institute of Asian and African Studies and the institute of Art History and Visual Studies\, searching for possible intersections. The panel discussion with Jamila Adeli\, Prof. Eva Ehninger and Prof. Monica Juneja will discuss the possibilities to think art history in translocal spaces: How can the transcultural perspective question the canon and enrich the discipline of art history? Can art be described from a global perspective\, without re-establishing borders? What happens if art travels the world and gets presented in new localities? Is it necessary to explain an artwork’s geographical context\, or does the work speak for itself after the „spatial turn“ and the rise of „post internet art“?
