DESCRIPTION:''Community communication'' in the context of violence against journalists in Mexico &nbsp\; The case of Oaxaca &nbsp\; Loreto Alejandra Bravo Muñoz will give a general introductory report on the situation of journalists and activists in Mexico and media landscape in general. The talk and the discussion will then ask the question\, how the wider social context reflects on the situation of community supported media projects. &nbsp\; Using the Mexican state of Oaxaca as an example\, this presentation explores the social\, economic\, political and organizational conditions in order to understand how community media is sustained. This exploration focuses not on the sustainability of any particular media project in and of itself\, but on how the communities where these media projects grow from are sustained and how media projects participate in this sustainability. &nbsp\; These projects should be seen as important contributors to the sustainability of community life. As part of this\, gender inclusion and the use of free and open-source software are key. Brief case studies of communities that use diverse strategies to reach sustainability\, such as those with a radio station and a self-governed and owned cellular network\, are analized and the attendant economic and legal implications taken into account. &nbsp\; !!!
